In today’s fast-paced world, helping teens discover the power of purpose and potential is more important than ever. While traditional education focuses on academics, many young people thrive through hands-on learning experiences that connect to real life.
At FrankTown Open Hearts, we empower K–12 students to explore their talents, try new things, and develop essential life and practical skills — all within a supportive, faith-centered community. While we are not a certified vocational training program, our initiatives are designed to introduce the value of skill-based learning that inspires teens to think about their future careers, create a personal growth plan, and develop a sense of purpose.
Learning by Doing: Building Confidence and Skills
When teens have the chance to work with their hands, creativity, and curiosity, they begin to see what’s possible. Through our programs, FrankTown participants explore skills like auto repair, design, cooking, and technology. Each activity teaches responsibility, problem-solving, — lessons that build confidence far beyond the classroom and strengthen essential life skills for teens.
For families who want to explain vocational training programs to their teens, these hands-on sessions serve as an introduction to how practical learning connects to real-world opportunities. Research from the Association for Career and Technical Education shows that skill development increases motivation and retention — empowering students to learn by doing.
At FrankTown, we believe growth happens when teens are given real opportunities to explore their interests and apply their talents. For older teens, we offer summer internships and help connect them to apprenticeship opportunities, post-secondary education, and other training programs that nurture their potential and prepare them for the next step in life.
These experiences remind teens that they are capable, gifted, and worthy of success. It’s not about earning credentials — it’s about developing character, confidence, and curiosity that prepare them for life through the power of purpose.

Faith, Mentorship, and Purpose
At the heart of every FrankTown program is mentorship. Caring adults guide and encourage students as they grow spiritually, emotionally, and socially. We believe each young person has a God-given purpose — and through faith and guidance, they can uncover it.
Whether it’s learning to fix an engine, bake a meal, or lead a project, our teens experience what it means to work hard, serve others, and believe in themselves. These lessons mirror the life skills often emphasized in vocational training programs, but in a faith-based, character-driven environment that encourages each teen’s personal growth plan.
If you’d like to be part of this mission, consider volunteering with us — your time and experience can inspire a teen to find their path and discover the power of purpose in their own life.
Creating Ripple Effects in the Community
When teens develop confidence and life skills, they bring that growth back to their families and communities. FrankTown’s approach builds not just individuals but a generation of responsible, compassionate, and purpose-driven young people.
According to the National Center for Education Statistics, students participate in skill development or career and technical programs are more likely to graduate and pursue meaningful work. By empowering youth through exposure and mentorship, FrankTown Open Hearts helps shape a stronger, more inspired community in Franklin and beyond.
